• Coordinated multi-sector relief efforts (education, child protection, shelter, and water and sanitation) and ensuring that gender was mainstreamed in the programming and consultation with women in the community and internally displace people (IDPs) camps.• Conducted rapid need assessments of IDPs through the collection, verification and analysis of information in order to identify human rights violations and protection risks encountered by IDPs and other affected populations; collected field data on program activities and results. • Organized monthly distribution of food and non-food items to more than 100,000 IDPs; Successfully advocated with militia groups to stop using school buildings to house soldiers; Relocated the major food distribution site to minimize danger to women traveling long distances for food; Ensured that one of the only medical clinics in Jebal Marra was operational following expulsion of Medicines Sans Frontiers.• Upheld and promoted humanitarian principles of neutrality, impartiality and independence in addition to the links with international human right law of inviolability, non-discrimination and security of the person.
