During my internship at BBBS, I was involved in the recruitment process of new volunteers and also in assisting with the local after school programs. With respect to the recruitment of new volunteers, my duties included verifying references and helping partner new volunteers with the correct child in need of a mentor. With respect to the after school programs, my duties included purchasing supplies and planning fun, creative activities for the volunteers and children. BBBS was a fun, rewarding company to be a part of. The field experience was very beneficial during my final year at Miami University.

During my time at E.C.I., I served as an in home caretaker at multiple group homes. I was responsible for helping individuals with developmental disabilities fulfill their day to day needs. This included assisting them with their personal care at home, ensuring their adherence to medication regiments, as well as maintaining a clean and healthy home. I would make sure the residents maintained a healthy diet, were able to participate in community activities and assist them in obtaining and performing actual employment. The work was very rewarding and it taught me a lot about a group of individuals that are often neglected by the general population. I worked for this company while I earned my degree in Social Work from Miami University, and the experience was very beneficial for my course work and personal growth.
