Manage, maintain, and conserve the approximately 2,000 works in The New School Art Collection as an educational resource for students, faculty, and the greater community. Advance the mission of The New School Art Collection through permanent and temporary exhibitions that promote the importance of art as an agent for personal and collective transformation. Acquire new works of art that support the vision of the university as an environment for innovative thinking and artistic experimentation. Eric. Stark, a Manhattan gallerist and dealer of contemporary art for more than twenty years, moved to the Hudson Valley in 2003. Throughout this time Mr. Stark collected period French and American Furniture as well as American and French Decorative Arts from the early 20 th century. In 2005, Mr. Stark opened a small shop in Cold Spring New York specializing in 18th century French and American Furniture. The shop closed in 2006 and its business shifted from retail sales to design services. Stark Design Associates is the synthesis of years of exploration into aesthetic movements and ideas. Mr. Stark is also currently the Curator of the New School Art Collection in New York.

Provide private collectors and artists advice on a broad spectrum of topics ranging from the donation of art to museums and other cultural institutions to collections management. Research and establish contact with museum curators and directors to assess their programs and interests. Initiate proposals for donations and acquisitions of specific works or collections. Work with artists and collectors to create an inventory plan using collections management programs and database software. Develop proposals, presentations, and budgets for large-scale public projects. Negotiate contracts and coordinate project implementation.
