Professor of Materials Science and Engineering

• In 2010, accepted the position of Associate Director of the Texas Analog Center of Excellence (TxACE). The research center will help create leading-edge analog technology for both traditional electronics and emerging applications. It is a collaborative $16M effort funded by the Semiconductor Research Corporation, the State of Texas, Texas Instruments, the UT System, and UT Dallas. • In 2008, chosen to lead the UTD portion of the SouthWest Academy for Nanoelectronics (SWAN), funded by the Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC) through The University of Texas at Austin, which involves 6 UT Dallas faculty. The program focuses on the materials science, processes, characterization techniques and associated understanding necessary to implement future graphene-based electronic devices.• Developed a research group consisting of approximately 8 PhD students, 1 technician, and 1 post-doc; • Individual portion of external funding greater than $500k/yr.• Taught 5 courses in Electrical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering: 2 undergraduate courses (Electronic Circuits Laboratory, Introduction to Nanotechnology) and 3 graduate courses (Fundamentals of Semiconductor Devices, Electronic/Optical/Magnetic Materials, Semiconductor Device Characterization).

• Managed approximately 15 PhD staff, engineers, technicians, and post-docs with an annual budget of over $3M/ year• Responsible for technical output, performance, solvency, personnel, and planning

• Directed start-up activities including procuring ~$30M of new nanofabrication equipment• Created facility vision, developed operating policies, and obtained operating funds• Led a cross laboratory strategic advisory committee & supervised lab staff.• Presented 40+ talks and tours describing the facility to numerous organizations including NSF, NIH, DARPA, NSA, DoD, and Congressional Staff.• The NIST Nanofab opened to NIST researchers in 2006 and in May 2007 became a national nanofabrication user facility for the NIST Center for Nanoscale Science and Technology.
