About Eric Whittington

I am a retired USMC UH-1N helicopter pilot. I flew Hueys while stationed on the east coast at New River and completed a MEU SOC deployment, as well as the liberation of Iraq. My aviation career wrapped up as a flight instructor for 3 yrs, where I attained instrument standardization instructor, tactical formation standardization instructor, and night vision goggle familiarization instructor qualifications. My total flight time exceeds 2600 hrs and I have a single-engine land, rotor, commercial, and instrument licenses.Following my aviation career, I received a Master's Degree in Modeling and Simulation. My first duties as an M&S Officer for the USMC included using M&S to train Marine staffs prior to deployment, development of Live-Virtual-Constructive federations, and user community representation for program management. Additionally, I was the OCCFLD sponsor for all USMC M&S Officers and was selected to continue serving the USMC M&S community until my retirement. I finished my military career as the M&S Technical Advisor for TECOM's modeling and simulation policies, concepts, and programs of record. In keeping with my goals to continue in the M&S career field, I started a Veteran Owned Small Business that provided M&S consulting services to prime contractors supporting the DoD, state of Virginia, and other Virginia commercial businesses. I provided various consulting services along all stages of development (background research, requirements definition/scope, metrics, survey existing solutions, design new/modified conceptual models, oversight of software development, test/evaluation planning/execution, and analyzing results). My specialization is communication via conceptual models that are both understandable by executive decision makers and technical subject matter experts. After a successful first fiscal year, I was offered and accepted a career opportunity with Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab.
