I love the library profession, and I am especially passionate about sharing that love with my community. I have over 20 years of library experience in diverse settings, and thrive on collaborating with others, sparking opportunities, and championing new ideas. I earned my Masters in Library Science from Indiana University, and worked in academic, public, art, and dance libraries before entering the field of medical librarianship in 1999. I was Senior Medical Librarian at Intermountain Healthcare in Salt Lake City for 11 years, where I played a leadership role in increasing clinical access to decision support information. I earned tenure as an Associate Librarian at the University of Utah's Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library, where I directed consumer health information initiatives from 2011-2019. Throughout my medical library career, I have worked to create gateways for consumers and providers to access evidence-based information, and have partnered with clinicians, bioinformaticists, public librarians, and community organizations to develop innovative services and resources. My research, publications, and presentations have focused on: studying the effect of tailored health information on patient outcomes and engagement; evaluating librarian contributions towards quality, outcomes, and costs in health care processes; integrating library services into the electronic health record; incorporating librarians onto the care management team; and utilizing telehealth and mobile technologies to reach geographically and socially isolated populations. My secret talent is being able to walk and read at the same time, and when I'm not working or reading, I enjoy being outside - mountain biking, trail running, manual labor - anything physical. My husband, two grown sons, and Border Collie make life grand.
