Led a team of subject matter experts and engineers in electrical, mechanical, process, control and automation, and maintenance planning along with 2-4 engineering co-op students. Worked with project teams to resolve problems with engineering, procurement and construction as related to Syncrude technical specifications and standards. Responsible for development and implementation of equipment strategies, resulting with a risk-based, fully resourced maintenance system in SAP for sustained operation post start-up. Developed 5-year maintenance budgets for the projects post-startup including reliability performance improvements based on benefit-cost calculations.Provided technical support during commissioning, start-up and initial operation of the projects to meet minimum conditions of satisfaction and turnover to the operating client.

Led a team of 9 inspectors to assure safe and reliable operation of mine mobile equipment and slurry piping at the SCL Aurora Mine. Reported to operation managers on equipment condition and implemented risk mitigation measures to help maximize production. Developed a risk-based inspection program to systemize and streamline the inspection program. This change prevented many upsets, saving the company greater than $2M in production losses. Conducted root cause analyses to improve equipment reliability. Provided recommendations for equipment operating capabilities.

Montreal, Canada Area

1 Combat Engineer Regiment: As Squadron Second-In Command, responsible to provide leadership to resolve administrative, personnel, operational and training issues within the Administration Squadron (120 personnel) in order to support and enable all training and operations of 1 Combat Engineer Regiment. Often delegated to act as the Squadron Commander. As the Maintenance Officer, led a team of 40 technicians (mechanics, welders, electricians, gunsmiths and logicians) and directly controlled $1.5 million in assets in order to provide first line maintenance support to 1 Combat Engineer Regiment. One of two candidates selected annually for secondment to British Army. Worked and trained as a British Junior Officer in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (REME) Corps. Attended the REME Young Officer course in UK. Deployed on operation to Basra, Iraq for six months as the Support Platoon Commander for the Equipment Support Company. Responsible to provide all integral support to the company by leading 40 soldiers of varied trades. Prior to deployment, employed as the Power Packs Platoon Commander. In charge of 30 personnel and the Power Pack Repair Facility (value £2.5M). Deployed the platoon and facility on exercise in Poland.
