During my twelve years teaching a broad range of high school social studies courses, I implemented forward-thinking teaching methods including blended and personalized learning and competency-based assessment. My reputation in this regard led to unique opportunities, such as helping to write and win various grants for personalized learning implementation. In 2016, I moved to a a secondary media specialist and technology integration coach position, where I was charged with innovating the middle and high school libraries while providing technology integration support to a staff of over 50 teachers in their 1:1 Chromebook classrooms. I remained connected to an international network of innovative educators by presenting and attending such conferences as iNACOL, ISTE, and MACPL. In 2020, seeking a return to the classroom, I accepted a position in the business department at Central Dauphin High School where I currently teach computer programming and business law. Through the pandemic, I become more convinced than ever about the need for trusting teacher-student relationships and a dedicated, intentional social-emotional learning program in order to provide for student needs and set them up for academic and lifelong success.
