Primary roles: Deliver project activities within the Climate, Health, Agriculture & Biodiversity (C-HAB) Programme portfolio, support research networks & consortia, liaise with comparative research networks, as well as special initiatives & projects. Supports in designing, planning & implementation of activities of C-HAB.Specific roles:• Leverage sector-specific knowledge & skills to effectively design & implement C-HAB activities.• Lead activities within C-HAB strategy through full programme cycle while ensuring their desired impact. • Organise & participate in scientific meetings related to the C-HAB & foster strategic contacts with relevant stakeholders. Assist in developing evidence-based positions linked to core work. • Support preparation of research & funding proposals. • Perform programme-relevant research to inform development, implementation & delivery of C-HAB activities. • Identify & build relationships with relevant stakeholders in areas of research & research leadership, capacity development. • Prepare reports, articles & presentations during programme inception meetings, annual grantee meetings & site visits. • Track & perform relevant analyses on various aspects of programme implementation to identify & address challenges & ensure effective & efficiency. • Participate in development, implementation & evaluation of projects; review documents & reports; identify issues to be addressed & propose corrective actions & track follow-up actions.• Prepare reports such as literature reviews, inputs into publications, analyses & make presentations on assigned activities.• Represent the programme & organization at national, regional & international scientific & programme meetings.• Coordinate budget & funding-related activities: project plan preparation, progress reports, financial reports; & prepare work plans & project budgets.• Manage calls for proposals & co-ordinate project activities throughout the grant cycles.

Key roles: Conceptual planning of the Regional Programme; Research and analysis of current developments in the sector of energy security and climate change in the region as well as internationally; Participation in organizational planning, implementation and evaluation of activities of the Programme; Preparation of various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, policy briefs, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc; Support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., including proposal of agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations; Implementation of outreach activities; conducting training workshops, seminars, presentations on assigned topics/activities; Coordinate Climate Diplomacy Academy, by sending out call for application, mobilization applications, undertake competitive selection of applicants and support delivery of the program Manage regular communications with programme partners, participants and other stakeholders regionally and globally; Coordinate overall visibility, including website and social media updates; Analyzation of project development and implementation, review of relevant documents and reports, identification of problems and issues to be addressed.

Key roles:Coordinate AGNES Secretariat in generating evidence and research to support climate change policy processes for African countries and continental common policy positionCoordinate implementation of three AGNES projects: i. Measuring Adaptation Progress in the Agriculture Sector (MAP Ag)– for developing a framework for tracking adaptation progress ii. Aligning Mid-Century Long-Term Low Carbon Climate Resilient Development Strategy (LTS) with National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) for Ghana, Kenya, Uganda and Zambiaiii. The Climate Governance, Diplomacy and Negotiations Leadership Program in close collaboration with participating African universities and institutionsStrengthen partnerships with the UNFCCC national focal points, the Africa Group of Negotiators and IPCC National Focal Points, Research Experts in Africa, relevant government department and ministries; development organizations and research institutionsOrganize and coordinate meetings, working sessions, writeshops and leaning events for expertsCoordinate communication with continental-wide networks including African Union, UNFCCC and IPCC and Research ExpertsLead preparation and submission of proposal and concept notes, for instance a proposal for AGNES to host a side event during the upcoming COP26 in GlasgowEngage and support preparation of Country or Africa position regarding various subjects under discussion, for instance the Koronivia Joint Work on Agriculture (KJWA)Organize outreach activities and disseminate AGNES knowledge products; Work with African scientists to increase their participation in UNFCCC and IPCC activities, such as drafting research papers, journal articles and policy briefs to further AGNES work
