* Technical lead on a project to rewrite the Texas Private Security licensing system. Both the front-end, user-facing application and the intra-office backend system were successfully replaced with modern Grails/Spring/HTML5/AngularJS applications. The project included provisioning of 6000+ thin client PCs to inspection stations across the state of Texas, which access a web application utilizing multiple HTML5 technologies and other server-side web applications and services to support it. We replaced the existing system that took 2+ years to initially implement in a little over 9 months, and in the process reduced the complexity of updating the software out in the field.

The application now utilizes direct interfacing with the agency's back end systems, allowing for more up-to-date information for the users on the status of their license application/update.* Lead developer on a project to update both the Licensee and Contractor Driver Record applications for the Texas Department of Public Safety. The updates to the Licensee application allow users to view their driver record immediately after they have paid for it, instead of waiting up to 14 days for it to be mailed. This results in a better customer experience and user satisfaction. The updates to the contractor application allow, among other things, for independent school districts (ISDs) to request school bus driver records for prospective drivers. This update helps ISDs perform additional checks to ensure that they are hiring safe and responsible individuals.* One of the primary developers on a new service-oriented application templating framework utilizing Oracle Fusion Middleware services, to be deployed for use not just in Texas but across the entire organization. This framework allows the company to quickly stand up new instances of application templates for a faster time to market.
