Hi, my name is Eric Lam, and I'm a Daedalus Scholar and Computer Science major at Hunter College (GPA: 3.89). My journey into technology started in high school with my first robotics and coding class, and ever since, I’ve been passionate about solving problems, creating innovative solutions, and exploring the endless potential of software engineering.Over the past few years, I’ve gained hands-on experience through internships, projects, and teaching roles. At AuriStor Inc., I developed a React.js dashboard that transformed over 20 command-line operations into a user-friendly interface, making it accessible to non-technical users. I also restored a legacy Apache authentication module, enabling secure AFS web logins, and crafted comprehensive deployment documentation to streamline client onboarding. My time at Pulp Technologies was equally rewarding, where I led a team of interns to design a scalable GraphQL API for a text analysis tool. I optimized database schemas and data processing pipelines, reducing latency and improving efficiency.Teaching has also been a significant part of my journey. As a coding and robotics instructor, I’ve taught over 100 students, designing personalized curriculums and guiding them through projects that foster problem-solving and programming skills. Sharing knowledge and watching students grow has been one of the most fulfilling aspects of my career.Beyond my professional experience, I’ve worked on personal projects that reflect my love for learning and innovation. I’m currently building a language-learning app that combines traditional study methods with AI-generated stories and flashcards, designed to help users retain vocabulary through spaced repetition. I’ve also developed a student profile tracker that personalizes recommendations, increasing engagement in educational activities. My technical skills span a wide range of languages, frameworks, and tools, including React.js, Next.js, Docker, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, and cloud platforms like AWS and GCP. I’m particularly interested in distributed systems and scalable infrastructure, areas I explored during my internships and coursework. My goal is to design systems that handle growing data loads and user demands while ensuring reliability and security. In addition to coding, I enjoy cooking, reading novels, and learning new things. I’m also passionate about robotics and have a long-term interest in creating lessons that inspire the next generation of tech enthusiasts.
