About Eric Sorenson
An accomplished and passionate educator who puts the educational, social, and emotional needs of his students at the forefront of his pedagogy, currently looking for opportunities within the educational and technology fields outside of the classroom.I have five+ years of experience working at high-impact middle and high schools with positive EVAAS data and high student engagement rates. I use a student-centric approach to teaching where the teacher serves as a facilitator and guide while the students serve as active learners and participants. My classes have students writing, reading, speaking, and listening every day. I strive to create a classroom space where students can not only express themselves, their needs, and their ideas, but that they feel safe and encouraged to do so. As such, I run a SEL-focused, engagement based classroom environment.Outside of school, I am the cofounder, narrative designer, composer, social media director, and project director for an indie game company in the area. This is a fancy way of saying we have a very small company and I'm comfortable wearing many hats and speaking to many people.Currently, I am looking for opportunities to expand beyond the classroom, bringing my passion and expertise for developing socially conscious and equitable lessons and learning spaces to a broader audience. I walk the line between the growing tech field and the realm of education and am eager to help bridge that divide.I have a well-developed home office for remote work, am willing to travel, and can work flexible hours.
