About Eric Oliver
I work for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as the Animation and Motion Design Team manager. The experience provides opportunities to collaborate with the many in-house departments in creating learning products. Over the past fourteen years, I have participated with cross-functional teams, including Animation, Digital Publishing, UX, and Executive Communications. My current projects include collaborating with the exhibits and social media teams to create environmental and social channel experiences. The Church provides a unique opportunity to develop incredible instructional products and experiences that make a difference.To aid in keeping up with new technologies and learning from emerging designers, I also teach as an adjunct instructor at Utah Valley University. My experience includes teaching digital media students courses in motion graphics, special effects, user-experience design, digital content development, and font design. The past five years have provided opportunities to develop curriculum for new courses and conduct action research for the improvement of curriculum and instruction.I completed a doctorate degree at Capella University in 2021. The degree is a Doctor of Education in the Curriculum and Instruction specialization. My doctoral capstone focused on assessing interaction design students with rubrics that utilized program outcomes and industry best practices. Pursuing a doctorate degree has provided insight into the need to holistically integrate learning strategies with visual design and user-centered design while engaging learners in an increasingly technology-driven world.
