I am interested in pursuing a career in public policy and government relations with a Non-profit agency or within State Government. I am actively seeking a role that will allow me to build off of the relationships and skills that I developed while working in the Massachusetts Senate that will also provide me with the opportunity to focus on an area of policy.I have worked in the office of State Senator Stephen M. Brewer for the past three years. Beginning as an intern, I was fortunate that my hard work and dedication led to a full time position in his office. I have enjoyed learning a great deal about the complexity of state agencies and overall function of the state government. Prior to my work in Senator Brewer's office, I attended Northeastern University where I studied History and pursued a minor in Political Science. While at Northeastern I had the opportunity to study abroad in Ireland and Chile. I reflect upon these experiences often and they serve as a frequent reminder as to how important it is to step out of ones comfort zone regularly. Throughout my college and post-college life, I have worked as a server, bartender and manager at the Globe Bar and Cafe in downtown Boston. My time in the restaurant industry has taught me how to work with and engage a variety of personalities while maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor. My seven years with the company has provided me with opportunities to act in a managerial role and better understand the difficulties associated with moving up within a company, the delicate balance of leadership and the importance of trust.
