I started out in radio promotion and production, took a strange turn to the world of insurance while I figured out what I really wanted from my professional life, then headed back to school for my degree in marketing because that’s my true work-life love. My favorite thing about the marketing world is that it gives me the chance to flex my creativity in so many different directions. I’ve handled event planning, run social media campaigns, handled content and SEO strategy, designed websites, and so much more for my clients. It keeps me on my toes and I wouldn’t want it any other way.Just as the world was shutting down in 2020, I was starting my own small marketing business. Choices, you know? Anyway, I’m glad I did it because it gave me the opportunity to start professional relationships with people who were also deciding that the way they worked before wasn’t working for them, so they started their own businesses and needed a new website and marketing strategy. I won’t give you the old “I work great alone and in groups” spiel. I work best alone, with a solid, small team of people who care about quality in my corner. I love a set of clear expectations, so when I work with a new client, I lay those out early and check in often. My team consists of a small group of contracted experts (developers, designers, photographers) but I do about 90% of the production myself. Again, I work best alone with a tight team of people who are really good at what they do ready to jump in and do their thing when needed.In my personal life, these are a few of my favorite things:- Music (I love live music, discovering new artists, and creating the perfect playlist)- Shopping locally (I love seeing and being a part of the growth of small business owners in Des Moines)- Nights out with my favorite people (even if that's on our patio)- Irish exits (only when there's a big crowd)- Autobiographies- So many podcasts- The right lighting (mood lighting, twinkle lights, candles, etc.)- Saving all the animals (this is a stretch goal)To recruiters looking for a salesperson: it's not me.
