I was appointed Acting CIO of the DoD within 1 year for excellence, by the former Secretary of Defense during political transition. In this role I held strategic governance for DoD’s $8B cybersecurity program, while retaining responsibility as Senior Information Security Officer, where I ensured coordination of defense-wide cybersecurity standards, policies, and procedures with federal agencies, international coalition partners, and private-sector defense corporations.Additionally, I established the DoD’s Cloud Computing Program Office, modernizing the legacy infrastructure to the cloud, and accelerating tech adoption by tens of thousands of warfighting and business nodes. As an executive leader within the organization, I shepherded the built out of the DoD-wide personnel system for civilian professionals engaged in cyber-related missions and introduced agile, streamlining recruitment/HR ecosystem for the recruitment of 100K+-FTEs.Also, I catalyzed 3X the increase in Defense Industrial Base (DIB) complex forum membership, improving alignment between domestic and foreign partners and access to cyber threat and opportunity intelligence/insight.

Across the US Department of the Army, I helmed every aspect of cybersecurity and IT strategy for this US Armed Forces service with 1.3 million personnel including Command, Control, Communications, and Computers (C4IT). I shaped the cyberspace and civilian workforce strategy, represented Army equities across DoD forums, and advised the Secretary of the Army, and the Army Chief of Staff on global C4IT ops.Additionally, I established the Army’s risk management ecosystem, enabling it to synergize and synchronize intelligence, anticipate and neutralize threats, and safeguard its warfighting and enterprise operations. Also spearheaded Cybersecurity Reporting through the implementation of the Army’s first-ever cybersecurity scorecard.

I was advanced through various roles and selected to- and steered Headquarters Airforce’s (HAF) IT enterprise strategy for the air service branch of the U.S. armed forces. In this role, I provided oversight ensuring organizational information assurance and IT services while also serving as Lead Advisory to mission-critical initiatives, and contracts including the negotiating and managing of HAF’s 1st IT support agreement. I was recognized with the Exceptional Civilian Service Award (Highest Civilian Honor Granted by Secretary of the Air Force); and the Meritorious Civilian Service Medal as Director, 75th Communications and IT Directorate role. Additionally, I held the prestigious Board leadership as Chair of the Pentagon Architecture Configuration Control Board, establishing the IT strategy and protocol for common services, which has served as DoD’s standard for over a decade.
