Hello, my name is Eva Alcaide and I am a Spanish citizen; but I have lived abroad most of my life. At the age of 6 my family and I moved to Romania, Bucharest, where I attended the American School of Bucharest for five years, helping me become bilingual at a young age.There in Bucharest I trained in the Olympic Club with Nadia Comaneci. It goes without saying that Nadia trained a totally different level than myself. Back in Spain, I attended the Base school and the Complutense University of Madrid, where I studied Economics for three years and one year of English Philology.Back in 1983 I left Spain on a sailing boat looking for adventure. I sailed from that year until 1995, when my daughter was born in Brazil. I had become a professional sailor by then and was part of a professional sailing crew.After my daughters’ birth, the divorce that followed was complicated and my sailing days were over, I found myself rather lost, so I started to look for another job. I’ve always been really good at languages, so I decided to start teaching English.I started putting up little ads on the walls of the little Brazilian seaside village where I lived Trancoso. Slowly I gathered pupils, formed groups and year after year I started to gain a certain recognition among the community. From there I moved up to teaching English to the staff and receptionists who worked at the luxury Inns in Trancoso, like Uxua and Capim Santo.For Uxua I translated their web and legal documents from the original English (the owners are American) into Portuguese and Spanish.Bahia Homes, one of the biggest if not the biggest Real Estate Agency in the region, also offered me to translate their Web and all its content from Portuguese into English, Spanish and French. I’ve also translated all sorts of rental contracts for them.During that time, I was also training private students for the TOEFL exams and teaching English to little children.In 2015 I had to come to Spain for a knee replacement surgery. My Brazilian pupils did not want to end their lessons, they were very happy with me, so we started using Skype and Zoom and that is when I became an online language teacher.In 2018 I moved back to Spain and was offered by Quantum Solutions the translation of a very large project that involves the creation of a railroad in Angola. The translation which I just recently finished took me 9 months of super intense daily work. They are very happy with my work and I’ve received excellent feedback.I continue to teach languages online to students from Brussels, France, Spain and Brazil.
