As a power trader I purchase and sell power in the wholesale electricity market to support TVA’s power needs. Trading power demands quick decision making and a considerable amount of risk taking, as I am responsible for the managing and dispatching of TVA’s portfolio of generation assets; Managing all day-ahead and structured energy deals flowing intra-day; Monitoring the energy flow in and out of TVA’s control area; Scheduling energy deals and purchasing transmission; Forecasting market conditions for TVA’s real-time and day-ahead positions; Bidding on financial products, such as two settlement and up to congestion; Monitoring real-time congestion pricing on four of TVA's contracted wind farms; Maximizing economic benefits to the system while supporting system reliability; Analyzing and hedging market risk.
