I joined the Knox County Law Director’s Office in July, 2013 to design, implement, and oversee Knox County’s self-insured, self-administered workers’ compensation program. In July, 2016, my department assumed coverage and administration of Knox County Schools employees, including teachers, in addition to its existing coverage of Knox County Government employees. We currently self-insure approximately 11,800 workers. We have consistently and significantly reduced annual claim costs while offering better service and more efficient management of our employees' claims.I'm passionate about developing strategies that simultaneously offer better medical and return to work outcomes for injured workers and are cost effective to the employer.Practicing law since 2005 in primarily workers' compensation, employment law, and general torts liability, I also regularly counsel Knox County leaders and supervisors in a variety of human resource and public risk management matters in addition to litigating claims in court.
