I helped draft lawsuits, write interrogatories and demand letters, in addition to communicating with insurance companies, attending depositions, and researching legal issues. These experiences provided essential context for what a career in personal injury work would be like.

I assisted in trial preparation. This took the form of procuring relevant documents for trial in addition to researching legal issues for three of the Commonwealth attorneys, including James Mills. I gained valuable insight into the legal processes for criminal cases, helped prepare jury instructions, and participated in trials by retrieving witnesses and managing the State’s PowerPoint presentations mid-trial.

I assisted in the firm’s property evaluations and gained basic skills concerning the litigation process. When not working inside the firm I was driving to courthouses all over the state of Kentucky to conduct property and tax bill research. I attended tax bill sales and purchased large numbers of delinquent bills. During this time, I gained an immense amount of knowledge concerning liens and the property tax bill delinquency process.
