About Saad Farooq
I am a software engineer at Life360 working primarily on the Android application and associated infrastructure. In my past life, I worked on computing education research (CS Ed) and education tools development at Tufts University. For my research, I dabbled in cutting-edge web development tools. Working with apps built on AngularJS and real-time front-end driven data API's. I am big on writing modular code with a test-driven approach and have done a lot of work on developing a build system for my apps using Grunt that facilitates an agile development workflow.I also worked on the development of the Android app infrastructure for NoQ apps (www.noqapps.com.au); a technology startup in Adelaide. My code powers a number of white-label apps and is designed to be modular so only the specific difference between client apps need to be coded.While at CMU, I developed Finch Dreams (www.finchrobot.com/software/finch-dreams), an extension of CMU's Alice software (www.alice.org) that allows it to control the Finch robot (www.finchrobot.com).I identify myself as an Android developer but am also interested in general engineering architecture; scalability, fault tolerance, etc. as well as API design and type-safety.
