The Deputy President for the Students' Union works closely with the President as his/her principal assistant to ensure the smooth running of the Union. This tends to have a broad array of responsibilities, inter alia, including deputising for the President when he/she seeks extra support or is unavailable in the execution of his/her functions. The Vice-President / Welfare & Equality Officer is available to meet with any student one on one to provide an open, impartial, confidential, non-judgmental support service with up to date information on any topic.This officer is also responsible for all issues that may arise on campus that may affect our students' wellbeing. Issues including Mental, Physical and Sexual Health, Crisis Pregnancy, Accommodation and Renting, Substance Abuse, Financing and Budgeting as well as dealing with all Equality issues on the grounds of Age, Race, Sexual Orientation, Disability or Gender.This brief also includes the role of Campaigns Officer for Maynooth Students' Union. Any campaign that occurs on campus or that involves third level students be it from internal, local community or national campaigns is ran through this officer. Examples of these would include: Positive Mental Health Week (see 'Project' below), Maynooth for Social Justice and the National Campaign against increases in third level fees and cuts to the grant.Other responsibilitiesAct as Secretary and Convenor for the executive of Maynooth Students' UnionRepresent students to University committees (policy boards, disciplinary hearings etc)Review and drafting of policyProviding welfare information through the publication of leaflets, posters and/or books on student entitlements and rightsLiaising with student support servicesMember of- Governing Authority, NUIM- Academic Council, NUIM- Capitation Committee, NUIM- Student Affairs & Equality Committee, NUIM- Student Aid Committee (Vice Chair), NUIM- Executive, USI- Campaign Subgroup Executive, USIAchievements- Winner of the national 3rd level "Campaign of the Year" Award for Mental Health Awareness Campaign.- Host of the launch of the National 3rd level Sexual Health Education Roadshow.- Honorary President of Maynooth Mental Health Society & Maynooth LGBTQ Society 2011-13.- Opening Speaker at The National Mature Student Convention 2012.
