Designed and executed a self-initiated project for the utilization of biomolecular protein assemblies (microtubules) for bio-inspired nanotechnological applications, most notably for the `bottom-up fabrication of gold nanowires inside microtubules'. Designed and tested antibody fragmentation and bioconjugation techniques for the targeting of antibody bound-gold nanoparticle seeds into the limited space of the microtubule lumen (15 nm in diameter). Explored strategies for the seeded growth of microtubule-templated gold nanowires. Validated the lumen targetting and formation of nanowires with fluorescence and electron microscopy (TEM and cryo-EM).

Engineered multi-component immunolabelling markers through the bioconjugation of antibodies and gold nanoparticles to DNA nanostructures. Prepared barcodes using unique positional arrangement of gold nanoparticles on DNA origami rod structures. Conceptualized and executed various strategies for conjugating antigen specific antibodies to the DNA origami structures for the multiplexed visualization of antigens on ultra-thin mouse retina tissue slices (in collaboration with Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden). Validated assays using electron microscopy (tSEM) of the barcoded tissue slices.

Conceptualized project with the principal investigator on the programming and fabrication of triangulated wireframe nano-structures assembled using single-stranded DNA Tiles. Experimented with the length and sequence design of the DNA Tiles for optimal structure formation. Developed a software for the automated designing of the nano-structures.

Designed and developed a research software with a user interface (3DNA: A tool for DNA sculpting) for generating custom 3D nano-structures using synthetic DNA "brick" sequences. Integrated the software with an automated pipetting robot (Tecan Genesis) for experimental validation.
