• Worked for ten solid weeks in the USA, at a rustic summer camp in the New Hampshire wilderness. This was away from normal civilisation, where phone service and internet access was minimal.• Taught riflery to children aged 13-15, both beginner and advanced skill levels, as well as some adult beginners.• Planned lessons for riflery without the use of the internet, ensuring the sessions were fun, imaginative and safe for all involved.• Led football, rounders and general ball-game fun sessions for children aged 8 to 15 years, in order to further develop motor skills, communication and confidence.• Provided care to the girls in my cabin, all aged 12-13 years, by making sure they felt safe, secure and had someone to talk to if they had any issues.• Ensured the girls were on time for lessons, meals and special occasions, such as camp-wide games.• Communicated with the parents of the girls in my cabin, keeping them informed about the week’s events, any issues and how these issues were being resolved.• When parents came to pick the children up, it was important to be polite, informative and omniscient regarding the day’s schedule.• Dealt with difficult, badly-behaved or disruptive children with confidence, understanding that each child has a unique way of responding to authority and finding a way to include them in the activity taking place without them disrupting it further.• Had to be very independent, flexible was able to keep a level-head as the day’s events quite often changed spontaneously due to rain or searing heat.
