In 1997 I moved to Maine following the purchase of a John Calvin Stevens colonial revival home. This pristine 8,000SF home required minimal restoration, but once completed I returned it to the market and finalized a successful resale two years later. Additionally during this time, I purchased several commercial buildings in the town of Bingham, Maine. All purchased buildings were in a state of disrepair, however, I collaborated with the State of Maine Economic Development board to obtain a Downtown Redevelopment Grant. I authored the grant application to the State of Maine which was Federally funded. In 2000, the redevelopment grant for Bingham was accepted. During this year I also relocated to Falmouth, ME. I coordinated the distribution of the redevelopment grant funds in a manner which permitted smaller businesses of Bingham to also update and remodel their business buildings. After restoring all of the main street buildings, I then launched a restaurant/pub business in one of the downtown buildings. This business was successfully operated for three years and then sold in May of 2003. In January of 2004, I purchased and developed a large land parcel known today as Eagle's Trace. Eagle's Trace is an adult retirement community. The homes sold were priced between $300K to $400K. Separate from the retirement community, but on the same land parcel, I also built and sold a 6500SF home for $1.1M.In 2006, I ran for the State of Maine Governor position. Although my campaign made it to the ballot, I withdrew from the race in September of 2006. Since then my focus has been dedicated to developing, marketing, and selling residential and commercial properties of Southern Maine. My wife, Nancy, and I run the F.O. Bailey Company with two company divisions: Real Estate and Antiquarians.
