Perform routine and specialised microbiological diagnostic laboratory tests for a variety of respiratory viruses (including but not limited to SARS COVID-19) and other viral infections, using a range of kit based molecular biology assays.

Experienced laboratory technician in a range of Next-Generation Sequencing and Genotyping methodologies, including but not limited to the following:- illumina SNP Microarray and Methylation Sequencing. - Genotyping-by-Sequencing (ddRAD)- Sanger sequencing - DNA Library preparation (illumina) - Next Generation Sequencing using Miseq- Microbial profiling / Amplicon Sequencing- DNA and RNA QC (using qPCR, PicoGreen, LabChip GX Touch/GXII, Agilent Tapestation, Gel electrophoresis etc).

Responsible for the detection and characterisation of viral hepatitis (hepatitis A and E) through extraction of nucleic acid (RNA), utilisation of PCR (conventional and real-time), gel electrophoresis and genotyping procedures. Responsible for composing a genomic sequence database using Geneious (genomic sequence data analysis software) to facilitate future investigations of potential outbreaks related to hepatitis A.
