Francesca Melis received the M.Sc. degree in Engineering/Architecture with honors at the Università di Cagliari, Italy in 2004 and attended the fourth year of study at the Universidad de León, Spain (2003-2004).She obtained the degree of Master "Laboratorio de la Vivienda del siglo XXI" at ETSAB, Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña in Barcelona, Spain, in 2010 with the thesis "Alternative housing. Squatting experiences in Barcelona", a research project focused in the squatter movement n Barcelona. directly connected to strategies of urban renewal through the re-appropriation of vacant buildings generating new ways of living space.Her professional career began as a junior architect with the architectural firm Arriola & Fiol Architects in Barcelona, Spain (2004-2005) and, afterwards, she collaborated as architect at Traynor O’Toole Partnership Architects in Dublin, Ireland (2007-2008).She has been employed for 3 years as project Architect at C+C04STUDIO Architects a private architecture firm specializing in residential apartment buildings, where she was working directly with clients, producing architectural drawings, obtaining approval from appropriate legislative entities, producing the overall construction drawings and 3D rendering of the buildings.She has been employed for 3 years at Domus Architects and Project Managers Ltd.She is currently employed, since March 2018, as Senior Architectural Designer at BM3 Architecture Ltd in London.She has over 12 years of experience in architecture and planning, that include 7 years in UK, and she has participated in a wide range of projects from competitions to construction buildings. Her project experience, based on different design and technical skills, is focused on residential buildings.
