Francesc Tarrés is a PhD in telecommunications by the UPC Barcelona Tech.He is a professor at UPC where he teaches the subjects of audiovisual communications and digital signal and image processing. Currently is a responsible of the group Audiovisual Technologies in EETAC -UPC Castelldefels and has participated in various research and development projects focused on the topics of image analysis and video, video encoding, facial recognition, reconstruction of depth maps from stereoscopic images, etc. He also is the CEO of Ugiat Technologies, an spin-off company devoted to the analysis of audiovisual data.The latest research projects in which he has participated are the IVERES Next Generation with RTVE, CICYT TEC2015 GenCom, CICYT TEC2011 PBInt, the CENIT-Buscamedia project, CENIT Vision project and the European Noe- VISNET-II project.On the other hand, he has been responsible for several technology transfer projects for companies in the electronic and audiovisual sector D + T (National Microelectronics Centre), Sony Spain, Indra, Rossignol, Mitsubishi Electric and Promax.
