About Frances Ramsay

I am a current student in the UBC Master of Landscape Architecture Program graduating in 2025.In my previous experience as an Environmental Technician, I was involved with a variety of urban environmental challenges, and have become particularly interested in green infrastructure, fish and wildlife habitat restoration, and creating cities that encourage active transportation and park use. I am interested in approaching these challenges, along with other social and economic problems, from the perspective of a landscape architect by designing landscapes that are better for people and the planet, and positively influence the way people interact with their surroundings. I am excited to bring my expertise in environmental science to a career in landscape architecture.

    As a research assistant, I acquired both field work and lab experience working primarily with steelhead salmon. In the lab, I determined the age of Steelhead salmon from thousands of scale samples for a the Keogh River salmonid project, as well as counted salmon eggs in salmon puke samples and swam salmon parr in a fish tunnel. In the field, I pit-tagged about 200 Steelhead salmon parr on the Keogh River.
