Assist eastern North Carolina communities to attract affordable housing development financed by tax-exempt bonds and Community Development Block Grants for Disaster Recovery. Use GIS to identify resilient sites for affordable housing outside the floodplain that also meets NCHFA requirements for tax credit projects. Conduct financial feasibility analyses to demonstrate the viability of difficult-to-develop projects.

Worked with Dr. T. William Lester on new research to understand how changes in neighborhood racial composition affect mortgage lending patterns. Used Stata and GIS to merge historical mortgage and census data. Conducted literature review to contextualize research finding.Assist Dr. Lester in creating Carolina Inequality Lab, a think tank to house interdisciplinary research around metropolitan inequality at UNC. Used Tableau to create interactive web maps that visualized data on how distressed neighborhoods have changed over time.

Taught oral English, literature, and culture at a public high school. Built a weekly curriculum to exchange ideas about culture and build connections between youth life in China and in America. Used both English and Mandarin in the classroom to explain concepts or instructions.

• Managed all content and data VPAP, an online database that helps citizens connect with and understand Virginia politics.• Used SQL to find trends in Virginia politics and plan infographics to help explain those trends to a larger audience.• Helped compile VaNews, an online newsletter that brings the day's biggest headlines in Virginia and local to over 6,000 subscribers. • Organized "Lighten Up, It's Just Politics"​, VPAP's annual fundraiser.

• Developed infographics, explanatory white board videos, and blog posts for students to understand state politics and higher education policy. Regularly organized data and information into more digestible formats.• Wrote a daily newsletter, The Nutshell, which concisely explained Virginia political and public policy news. • Met regularly with lawmakers and other stakeholders to advocate for student issues like college affordability and campus sexual assault.• Analyzed datasets and conducted research to understand how budget changes affected the day-to-day lives of students.

In the fall of 2011, I created an online encyclopedia (now terminated) that brings up-to-date, unbiased information to the Fairfax community in Northern Virginia. Fairfaxpedia was essentially an answer to some of the challenges that arise whenever someone is trying to find out specific information about their community. As a wiki, anyone can edit, correct, or improve the information found on Fairfaxpedia. It's a way of crowdsourcing the massive amount of local information in a way that can be easily accessed by everyone.

• Managed over 50 students to plan and deliver news content on a wide range of George Mason University topics.• Experimented with different digital tools to expand our audience and improve understanding of complex topics like the budget, enrollment trends, and changes in state funding.• Lead redesign of the organization's website, personally improving the functionality of our digital layout.• Wrote extensively about college administration initiatives and how they affected students, state higher education policy, and the university's budget.• In March 2014, I delivered a talk about Fourth Estate at the College Media Association conference in New York City. I presented on experimentation with different journalism tools and strategies.
