After completing my PhD in Computer Science at the University of Virginia in 2002, I joined Hendrix College as an Assistant Professor of Computer Science, where I remain on the faculty to this day. I've held tenure since 2008 and the rank of Professor of Computer Science since 2015. I have held a number of leadership positions over the years, most notably Chair of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science and Chair of the Committee on Curriculum.My teaching experience covers a broad array of undergraduate Computer Science courses, including Foundations of Computer Science, Data Structures, Algorithms, Operating Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Computing Systems Organization, Mobile Software Development, and Computational Humanities. The central question I have explored in my research is: "How can robots be made easier to program?" To this end, I have explored topics in machine learning, symbolic artificial intelligence, and human-computer interaction among others. I have a strong interest in building relationships with partners, both in industry and academia, who share common interests. I definitely want to stay informed of what is important outside the Ivory Tower!
