I worked in a homeless shelter and a food pantry in rural Colorado for one year. My responsibilities in the food bank included basic operations such as stocking shelves, enrolling people to the program, performing food pickups and running day-to-day operations of the pantry. My shelter duties included cooking meals for the people in the homeless community, sorting daily mail, cleaning and sanitizing the shelter, enforcing rules to guests of the shelter, de-escalating conflict among guests and performing basic case management for people staying at the shelter.
