Responsible for delivery of the Routes to Work employability services in in line with organisational strategic and operational objectives. Development and implementation of the organisations operational plan while supporting the achievement of delivery objectives by providing direct line management and leadership to operational staff through senior management and leadership team structures across the organisation.My direct responsibility includes ESF, YPG and CRF funded employability services ensuring achievement of our aspirational targets of supporting local residents into sustainable employment; while driving identified service development & improvement activities to ensure that the company remains at the cutting edge of employability service locally & nationally.In addition to this also providing support to our overall portfolio of employability and training services. As part of the senior management team I ensure both strategic and operational activity is in line with our mission, purpose and vision. Part of our working groups towards IIP accreditation, LGBT charter status and lead on our Reward & Recognition scheme. I work with a range of stakeholders to identify and deliver improvements in our service offer and ensuring that we are visible to potential clients and partner organisations.

As Team Leader at Routes To Work Limited, I was responsible for providing leadership, support & direction to a large multidisciplinary team. I provided direction and leadership to teams to ensure that the company’s vision of providing a high quality respected jobs employability and training service is realised and that the associated ethos, culture & values are continually upheld while achieving required performance expectations. Continually ensuring that staff resourcing across all activity is appropriately reviewed and applied to ensure optimum performance is achieved against key contractual targets. As part of the wider leadership team, I role modelled our high standards ensuring these are achieved by all staff in my teams therefore meeting our agreed service levels across all outputs and outcomes. As part of wider partnership working as the lead on a range of functions in the operational delivery model and as a point of contact for funding partners to deliver solutions to issues identified to continually improve our service and make our services appealing and accessible for local residents.

Worked as part of a specialist unit which managed all DWP decision on benefits and DWP appeals for presenting to Upper Tribunal Judges and the higher courts. Was responsible for legal guidance published in the Decision Makers Guide (DMG) and Advice for Decision Making (ADM). Worked on a range of complex cases withing the decision making and appeals service. Supported welfare delivery by drafting legal guidance, scrutinising ministerial submissions, instructions to lawyers and draft regulations to ensure that they are accurate, correctly reflect case law and reflect policy intent.Contributed to the DWP welfare reform agenda by supporting DWP decision makers to make high quality benefit entitlement decisions; Supporting policy makers and lawyers to ensure that benefit legislation operates as intended; Steering benefit appeal cases through the Upper Tribunal system and sometimes, higher courts, ensuring best outcomes for DWP; and Supporting DWP initiatives aimed at improving decision making and appeals standards, such as, the quality assurance of learning and developmental products and claimant communications, like decision notices and leaflets.
