My practice focuses on the representation and counseling of employers in a wide variety of employment matters, and especially class and representative litigation and other complex employment disputes and issues. I have extensive experience with wage and hour class and California Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) actions, as well as discrimination, harassment, retaliation and wrongful termination claims. I also frequently counsel employers on wage and hour issues, terminations, investigations, independent contractor classification, and other employment matters, as well as California non-competes and restrictive covenants. Some of my representations have included:• Defeating class certification and obtaining partial summary judgment for a major insurance company in a California class action brought by insurance agents alleging misclassification as independent contractors. • Defeating class certification of meal and rest break, off-the-clock, and expense reimbursement claims brought against national home health care provider on behalf of more than 2,500 home care workers.• Prevailing at trial in a PAGA action on novel question of California law regarding enforceability of prospective meal break waivers.• Defeating class certification of claims against a major film festival alleging that unpaid volunteer workers were misclassified and should have been treated as employees.• Obtaining summary judgment on off-the-clock, overtime, waiting time penalty, and wage statement claims for a national chain of veterinary clinics, and defeating class certification of meal and rest break claims.• Investigating allegations of sexual assault made against a prospective employee of a major investment firm.
