Management of EIA, baseline and monitoring projects for a range of clients across the offshore renewables and oil and gas industries. Gary's main focus at OceanEcology is to manage, coordinate and inform marine mammal mitigation and monitoring programmes including the management and coordination of survey teams and offshore personnel. Collaboration with other marine specialists from a variety of disciplines to ensure the successful undertaking and delivery of marine environmental surveys, analysis and reporting. Other roles include day to day management, tendering, project planning and license consents, survey design and data analysis.

Project Manager of several Marine Mammal Mitigation Programmes for the UK offshore renewables industry. Lead biologist on a number of significant benthic EIA and monitoring surveys. Extended periods of time (5-6 week cruises) spent offshore as lead marine mammal observer/PAM operator on dedicated MMO vessels for the offshore renewables industry and seismic survey vessels in the North Sea and North/South Atlantic. Contribute to various desk based Environmental Impact Assessment reports for assessing benthic and marine mammal sensitivities and devising mitigation measures for the seismic industry in North Sea, North Atlantic and Greenlandic waters.Collation and analysis of field data in preparation for field/technical reports. Statistical analysis of data and interpretation of results into detailed scientific reports, notably benthic survey technical reports for EIA and monitoring.

Resident Marine Biologist on resort island for independent dive centre. Guided snorkel trips twice daily, assisted on guided dive trips, outreach lectures and management of the artificial coral nursery as part of an ongoing awareness programme into Reef Health for Nautilus Initiative.

Data management, program outreach to the public and local stakeholders and review of tagging data considered for the 2008 Ground Fish Assessment Review Meeting. Inshore and offshore boat-based research and marine mammal observations focusing on commercial fishing gears and zooplankton dynamics in waters off New England.
