About Gary Hinkle
After starting my career as an electronics engineer then progressing in engineering leadership roles, I founded Auxilium in 2002 with a passion for helping engineers advance as leaders. This journey began with the Leadership for Engineers and Project Management for Engineers workshops I developed and refined while helping thousands of engineering leaders increase their abilities. These workshops continue to be a core part of our engineering leadership program.I believe it's important to continuously improve as a hands-on leader, so I serve in challenging interim roles ranging from project leader to head of product development at startups through Fortune 500 companies. As a practicing leader and follower of product development best practices, it became obvious that an agile way-of-working is almost always the best approach. There wasn’t a documented agile for hardware process that was useful, so with my colleague Dorian Simpson we created the Modified Agile for Hardware Development (MAHD) framework. We launched MAHD in 2017 and hundreds of teams are now using MAHD elements.Today, I leverage MAHD elements in leading teams, advising and training product development leaders. With business success always depending on abilities, my focus continues to support leadership development and helping teams optimize their way-of-working.As an empty nester, I became a workaholic but overcame that to enjoy my other passions—gardening and writing guitar music. A constant attitude adjustment about weed pulling and unfinished projects keeps both enjoyable!
