During my time at Logan, I have been involved in procuring services for site work for major UK and EU airports as well as products for airports around the rest of the world which had to be achieved within strict airport deadlines. I have had involvement in the management of the company Supplier Performance review programme for suppliers who carry out work on site. This involved issuing monthly questionnaires and recording the results upon return. The programme had not been maintained for 6 months prior to my arrival at the company and had to be re-worked and understood and this greatly improved my knowledge of Excel spreadsheets and with this knowledge I was able to develop new spreadsheets for the Quality department to enable them to report on monthly progress for outstanding Quality Issues.I have been involved in the re-negotiating of the company mobile phone contract and transfer to a new network as well as handle the account on a daily basis. A 20% per year saving was achieved doing this.I also had responsibility for the day to day handling of the company vehicle fleet. Is a large fabrication and engineering company producing major fabrications for the offshore industry with a turnover of approximately £4-£5 million per year.As the sole buyer within the company , I was responsible for the ordering of stainless steel, mild steel in both plate and sections as well as exotic materials for the fabrication workshop, welding wires and consumables, equipment hire and Health and Safety requirements from a multitude of existing suppliers as well as trying to source from new suppliers. I carried out the inputting all costing information on to job costing spreadsheets. Recording and booking in of all material test certificates for traceability purposes in accordance with requirements of the company QA system on Microsoft Excel. I set up and maintained a stock record on Excel to record all materials with cost value. During my time there, the company introduced Sage Job cost Professional software and I used my previous training to good effect to ensure the software was quickly utilised to it’s potential within the company.

This company manufactured equipment for mortuaries and laboratories as well as making kilns for the food processing industry. I was tasked to carry out all Purchasing duties within the company as well as responsibility for the stores and 2 store men.The role involved purchasing stainless steel sheet and hollow sections, motors, controls equipment, taps and other materials required for the manufacturing process using the company bespoke software which generated requirements based on current projects.

A fabrication company manufacturing storage tanks, pressure vessels for the chemical and food industries with a turnover that varied from £1million up to £3million. The company also undertook site maintenance work within the same fields.I was required to carry out the ordering stainless steel and mild steel materials for fabrication workshop at best cost and delivery, regularly achieving cost savings in the region of 10-12%. Maintaining of accurate job cost records including labour entry using Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.Assisting with Estimating and quotations.Assisting with compilation of QA data books and maintaining material QA traceability with Microsoft Access.Developing Supplier Relationships.I undertook Sage job costing training whilst at this company.

I joined the Purchasing department in 1990 as a Purchasing Assistant. This role involved working with two Buyers and was basically an administration function to assist them whilst learning about Purchasing principles and procedures. It was at this stage that I embarked on my CIPS qualifications. As my experience increased, I was given additional responsibilities such as handling small negotiations on behalf of one of the Buyers and this progressed into being given some small accounts to handle myself under the direct supervision of the previous Buyer for the account. I was handed larger accounts to deal with as my experience and confidence increased and had several of the companies key suppliers to manage, these companies supplied products as diverse as electrical connectors and wiring to foundry consumables.An opportunity arose for me to further enhance my knowledge of the supply chain by switching to the Materials control team and to take on the responsibility of scheduling products for delivery to the factory on a JIT basis. I was also able to introduce Consignment stocks for some suppliers which removed previous difficulties in dealing with these suppliers
