GC Brown, originally from Small Town, Indiana, grew up on a farm where he acquired his work ethic. At the completion of his sophomore year of high school his parents decided to move the family to Arizona.After graduation in 1991, he spent a few years working for a variety of different companies and industries.Eventually he became the General Manager for a mobile home outfit out of Dallas, Texas.Yet GC Brown was destined to be an entrepreneur.He made a good deal of money in many different enterprises...buying and selling mobile homes, real estate fixer uppers and real estate development, the night club business, a software company, online flower company, a sushi chain, then, in 2004, the African diamond trade.Bottom line, GC Brown was good at making money but played fast and loose with his income taxes.He was eventually charged with tax offenses, i.e. tax evasion, failure to file taxes on time and wire fraud. Prior to going to trial, he was offered a plea bargain. Believing he’d done nothing wrong, GC Brown turned down the deal and chose to fight the charges. Other charges were brought, he lost and did his time.GC Brown was never one to shy away from a challenge. While he was serving the federal prison term, he read a newspaper article that said writing a novel is the third hardest thing to do.GC Brown picked up a pen.That was in 2014. He hasn’t stopped writing since. That’s how he completed two different series, SNIFF, SMOKE, SHOOT, and The Mason Storm Series prior to his release late last year.Remarkably, despite being a felon who’s just finished serving 16 years in multiple federal facilities, GC Brown believes this sentence was the best thing to ever happen to him.“I would not have become an author and the person who I am today.”Since his release in late 2023, GC Brown has been living life, determined to make up for lost time.SNIFF is the first novel to be released. The other books will follow. He’s also one of three partners in UpCup Koffee Company, a mushroom coffee venture in which he’s partnered with two other felons, Dr. William McArthur III, who was released in 2011 and Alex Diaz, who was released in 2015.GC Brown lives between Arizona and California with his new bride, Carla and their newborn identical twin boys, Trevor James and Tristan Ripp.
