Cancer Support Community of Greater St. Louis is a non-profit organization whose mission is to ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action, and sustained by community to enhance their overall well-being. All programs are completely free of charge and offered in a comfortable, home-like environment. Cancer Support Community offers professionally-led support groups, educational workshops, nutrition and exercise programs, and stress-reduction classes to empower and educate individuals affected by cancer.

More than a Place; Its a Process.The Haven of Grace provides a home for young pregnant women to redefine their lives. A small residential facility in the city of St. Louis, The Haven offers a comfortable and caring environment for young mothers to heal and bond with their infants while also providing a rigorous educational program and support system designed to empower residents to take personal control of their future and set their lives on a positive, new course.

Led the board in the development of a new three year strategic plan. Formulated the organization’s public policy positions and increased the visibility and impact of the organization through collaborative, cooperative relationships and partnerships with professional and community organizations and individuals throughout the state. Led the organization through the passage of two key pieces of legislation during the 2010 Legislative Session. Responsible for the hiring and oversight of a staff three.

Implemented new fundraising strategies and development opportunities that increased revenue. Developed new programs including an art therapy program, legislative list-serve, and a statewide educational conference for professionals, survivors and families that attracted 250+ attendees and over $60,000 in revenue. Enhanced and improved the financial reporting system of the Association. Redesigned and developed a new website for the Association, allowing for greater flexibility and content usage. Established greater agency recognition throughout the state by working with coalitions with common goals.

Responsible for the overall planning, development, and implementation of comprehensive fundraising and marketing program with an annual goal of $1.4 million. Responsibilities included staff supervision, engaging personally in the cultivation and solicitation of corporate prospects, annual and major donor solicitation, oversight of endowment activities, and special event planning. Additional responsibilities of the department included preparing grant and foundation proposals, quarterly newsletter, website, and public relations.

Responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and directing an agency-wide, comprehensive fundraising and public information program. Included annual, capital, special and planned gift fundraising programs, preparing grant and foundation proposals, and engaging personally in the cultivation and solicitation of prospects and donors. Responsible for quarterly agency newsletter, monthly employee newsletter and all multi-media informational tools.
