Creativity and learning are what drive me. These two things are what drove me to pursue a fashion studies degree and to eventually work on my own craft home décor and accessories business. My love of fashion and history lead me to dive into historic costume design. I have been creating these fashions since I was twelve years old. I also design contemporary fashions and I have a foundational education in the apparel design process. I have studied draping and patterning techniques in college and have experience in conceptualizing and sketching designs and creating prototypes. I have also had to do seasonal trend research and create design boards in my coursework. At the end of my junior year of college, I worked as an intern at the Morris Museum in Morristown, NJ where I helped to conserve the collection’s historic costumes and set up exhibits. I continued this work at Montclair State University by working in their costume collection. After college, I opened up my own e-commerce business, Elegant Realm, in which I sell home décor and accessories that I make. By operating this business, I have gained social media marketing and business management experience. I also learned the retail side of the fashion industry by working at Charming Charlie. I learned techniques for maintaining loyal customers and creating interesting product displays. I helped the chain’s customer retention goals by signing up 289 customers to the Charm Club Rewards program. While I enjoyed my experiences in the fashion industry, I decided to explore careers more in line with my political science degree. That is how I ended up working at a law firm. I learned a lot about the legal process and picked up useful administrative skills. However, I missed my creative endeavors and now wish to once again pursue a career in the fashion industry. When I am not at work, I enjoy reading, writing, drawing, and gardening, all the while honing my creativity.
