Internal business development, principally, is about facilitating and ensuring there is a healthy focus on delivering profitable growth by all areas impacting on this. External business development ranges from Key, Strategic and Supplier account management through to preparation, creation and delivery of sales campaigns and significant business tenders.The biggest challenge but also the biggest upside to the role is the variety and specifically getting the balance of managing such a broad range of stakeholders. These run right through from Underwriting, Group Risk, Compliance, Broker Accounts, Legal and Marketing functions through to all levels within a Broker or Broker Network organisation.Working with the team we have we have been hugely successful, we have identified over £40m of GWP opportunities through our sales campaigns whilst securing over £10m of broker deals. We’ve also won a number of sizeable tenders and developed deeper, stronger, more understanding relationships across the business which a have all contributed to growth of over £100m of GWP in recent years. On two occasions I also managed multi million pound store refurbishments ensuring the customer plan was not impacted through effective phasing of works and customer and contractor communication. I very much enjoyed my time working in Tesco and I learnt a huge amount of transferable skills that have helped me throughout my career. I'm proud of my time here and am equally proud that during 2005 I identified, trained and developed 4 members of staff that were promoted to management positions. Show less
