They are responsible for developing, maintaining and utilizing the full range of a Soldier's potential. Directly responsible for managing, supervising, coaching, and mentoring 8 to 16 soldiers at any given time with the assistance of two team leaders (usually at the rank of sergeant or corporal).Staff sergeants develop and train their soldiers in their MOS, enforce military standards and lead unit missions.Staff Sergeants are trained with knowledge and possess the capability to operate as a platoon sergeant which incorporates leading, coaching, and developing up to four squads of 8 to 16 people per squad.

In command of million dollar military equipment that is used for engaging enemy combatants Transporting squad sized elements from location to locationIn charge of coordinating movements amongst Company sized Stryker elements to move with precision and accuracy
