• Managed staff in multiple offices - Washington, D.C., eight offices in Alaska, as well as Senator Stevens’ President Pro Tempore Office, Commerce Committee, Appropriations Committee and Governmental Affairs and Homeland Security Committee.• Oversaw: legislation including committee and floor strategy; appropriations; interaction with the Administration and other government agencies; outreach with the business community; office correspondence; constituent services; office budgets; and press strategy.• Advised the Senator and managed his time and areas of focus.• Oversaw and managed budgets totaling nearly $4 million for offices in Washington, D.C. and Alaska, including the President Pro Tempore and Governmental Affairs Subcommittee offices.• Maintained strong relationships with Members of Congress and Chiefs of Staff.• Co-chaired a weekly Republican Chiefs of Staff meeting.• Actively participated in a variety of bi-partisan Chiefs of Staff study groups. • Met with a wide variety of stakeholders including businesses and constituents.• Oversaw the U.S-China Interparlimentary Group including two trips to China to meet with President Hu and high level members of the National People’s Congress.

• Recruited and brought in by the Senator for the specific purpose of managing her office successfully through her re-election campaign. Senator Murkowski was re-elected that Fall in one of the most competitive races in the Nation. • Managed staff in multiple offices – Washington, D.C and eight offices in Alaska. • Lead staffer for Senator Murkowski as Deputy Republican Whip – extensive work with Senate leadership on votes, legislation and policy. • Oversaw committee work including Energy and Natural Resources Committee, Foreign Relations Committee, Indian Affairs Committee, and Veterans’ Affairs Committee.• Secured a multitude of legislative accomplishments in the areas of energy, health care, fisheries, military and veterans, and trade. Examples include: passing legislation regarding financial incentives, regulatory changes and construction for an Alaska gas line project; secured new Alaska veterans benefits; won passage of Trade Adjustment Assistance aid to offset low salmon prices due to foreign competition; won health care compensation for a class of sick Alaskans affected by nuclear bomb tests; passed legislation to improve health facilities in rural areas. • Managed a yearly budget of $2.3 million.

• Principal legal advisor to the chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee on Alaskan issues. • Maintained direct supervisory responsibility for a 12-person legislative staff and was lead staffer working with Appropriations staff on all 12 Appropriations bills.• Worked with Senate Leadership on Senator Stevens’ priorities and directed staff in all facets of implementation of the Senator’s legislative agenda. • Responsibilities included: Appropriations; Governmental Affairs Committee; Rules Committee, Commerce Committee and interaction with the Senate Leadership

• Principal legal advisor to Senator. • Lead staff for the Senator during negations on the Department of Homeland Security Act of 2002. Drafted and helped implement an amendment that kept the U.S. Coast Guard’s core missions in place when the Coast Guard was included in the Department. • Responsible for: planning and organizing hearings; drafting and analyzing legislation; researching, writing, and editing staff memos to the Senator. • Lead staffer for floor debates and parliamentary issues. • Helped Senator Stevens and Senator McCain in reorganizing the United States Olympic Committee.

• Lead staffer for Foreign Policy, Energy and Natural Resources, Lands, Terrorism issues and Sports. • Represented the Senator on the Salt Lake Olympic Games during meetings with Secret Service and other Law Enforcement Agencies – during the first National Security Special Event after 9-11.• Worked with the United States Olympic Committee on Athlete dispute resolutions.• Traveled with and staffed the Senator on all trips to Alaska

• Responsible for research and composition of constituent correspondence for Health Care, Education, Sports, Mining, Timber, Foreign Affairs, Lands Policies, Judiciary, Labor and Campaign Finance Reform issues. • Directed the Senator’s Summer Internship program. Managed 20 recent high school graduates and 8 College interns each Summer.
