Physical Education Teacher
Derby, England, United Kingdom
This job role developed personal qualities some of these including exceptional organisation, time management, communication, and reflection. During this teaching position I put planning and delivery at the centre of my attention to ensure students’ progressed to the lesson targets. This also allowed me to be reflective and act on constructive feedback from mentors, and to achieve my goals. The learning environment was inclusive to meet everyone's individual needs through adaptations in my teaching and planning. I continued to work on my professional development by completing CPD training during my ECT program to improve my subject knowledge, the Teachers’ Standards, Rosenshine’s principles and other teaching and learning elements. During all teaching roles I have created a safe, enjoyable, and inclusive learning environment no matter what the sport or examinable PE lesson I was teaching. This included teaching sports such as, but not limited to athletics, fitness, football, netball, and basketball and badminton. I learnt that building positive professional relationships with students and staff was essential to successful learning environments to overcome any barriers through the use of effective communication. I had a clear dialect which made me approachable with clear rules, routines, and a behaviour framework. I supported the delivery of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze Award some elements I supported was preparation of equipment, map reading, checking of students equipment, completing students evidence, leading practice expeditions and supporting the expeditions to ensure this ran smoothly. I found this experience fulfilling to see students succeed as they progressed in their training to the final expedition.
