Network Engineer
• Network infrastructure team lead, mentoring and advising three junior technicians.• Led the design, installation and configuration of a new campus network buildout resulting in the university’s pioneering expansion into California (Netskope Borderless WAN and edge routing; Nexus 9k and Cisco Catalyst 9k platforms; Meraki wireless; Cisco UCS and NetApp FlexPod; Infoblox DDI with anycast routing; Opengear out-of-band management).• Architected the research, design and implementation of a project to replace legacy Cisco ISR routers at a dozen branch sites with Netskope Borderless WAN routing and Meraki cloud-based switching, resulting in increased performance, network visibility, and ease of troubleshooting. • Led the research, negotiation and installation of a large-scale initiative to replace legacy Cisco Catalyst 4500 switches with Arista switching and CloudVision SaaS monitoring and automation platforms which will significantly decrease the time and cost required for switch installation, configuration and maintenance. • Created numerous diagrams to design and document network infrastructure environments and changes leading to increased agility of future network buildouts and troubleshooting. • Authored numerous knowledgebase articles to optimize employee onboarding and training.• Authored several installation guides for enablement of onsite and remote staff, greatly reducing the time and costs required for equipment installs.• Initiated the research and adoption of a configuration backup system, increasing business resiliency in disaster recovery scenarios. • Assisted with an initiative to discover, profile and secure IoT devices on our campus networks using the Ordr platform in conjunction with Arista TAP aggregation switches, hardening our environment against costly data breaches and ransomware attacks.• Provide Tier 3 technical support for students, faculty and staff, fostering an ability to interface with a diverse range of users.
