Protein Production Technician- Molecular Biophysics Group- Expressed and purified over 30 different recombinant human proteins from E.coli, sf9 or mammalian cell cultures using affinity, size exclusion and/or ion exchange- Measured protein concentration by various methods including UV/Vis spectrometry, Bradford or BCA assay methods- Assessed protein quality by SDS-PAGE, mass spectrometry and gel shift assays (biotinylated proteins)- Isolated and purified plasmid DNA using commercial mini-, or maxi- prep kits- Developed reports/SOPs and submitted/uploaded data to electronic databases including ICMdb and polymorph- Provided coworkers with proteins on request - Set up and used a Biomek liquid handler to prepare crystallization screening buffer plates for distribution to lab mates - Maintained lab space/equipment by performing basic cleaning, glass-washing and sterilization as necessary - Prepared packages and documentation for shipments when required - Member of the Health and Safety Committee responsible for workplace safety inspections as well as a member of the First Aid Committee
