Dr. François Bénard Laboratory,Along side a talented interdisciplinary team, I specialized in the preclinical development of radiopharmaceuticals for cancer imaging and therapy, with a focus on molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and in vivo studies. Key contributions included:Animal Models and Radiopharmaceuticals : Established and maintained human tumor xenograft models for evaluating radioactively labeled cancer therapeutics in mice. Preformed various injections, tumor measurements, bio-distribution studies, and monitored the health of over 100 mice to assess the efficacy of therapeutic radio-tracers(Lu177, Ga-67, Tc99m, Cu-67, F-18) .Biochemical Characterization & Assays: Independently developed and implemented high-throughput screening assays (fluorescence, absorbance, fluorescence polarization) to evaluate compound binding kinetics, providing an efficient workflow for therapeutic candidate prioritization.Molecular Biology Expertise: Gained proficiency in techniques such as RT-qPCR, primer design, SDS/NATIVE PAGE, western blotting, radioligand binding assays, and differential scanning fluorimetry.Cell Culture & Imaging: Maintained various mammalian cancer cell lines, performed transfections, cryopreservation, cell viability assays, and in-vivo tumor inoculations. Evaluated fluorescent probe uptake via confocal imaging.Specialized in Serine Protease Characterization for Antiviral Development:Partnered with the Arrowsmith Lab (SGC Toronto) to biochemically characterize a library of Type II Transmembrane Serine Proteases (TTSPs) implicated in respiratory virus infections, including SARS-CoV-2. I also developed biochemical and biophysical assays to evaluate the potency/selectivity and binding mechanisms of novel peptide-based antiviral inhibitors.
