• Serve as AARP’s point federal advocate and lobbyist on issues related to prescription drug access and affordability, vaccines, Medicaid health coverage, and other health security matters.• Advocate and provide technical assistance for policies that support more than 100 million Americans age 50 and older in the areas of prescription drug access and affordability, vaccines, Medicaid health coverage, and related issues.• Support AARP federal colleagues and state offices as necessary with issue leadership, expertise, coordination, technical resources, legislative drafting and analysis, drafting statements and testimony, and strategy development, especially as they relate to federal activity. • Work closely with colleagues in States, Campaigns, Policy Development, Programs, Office of Diversity Equity and Inclusion, and other departments to drive robust and proactive advocacy on prescription drug and Medicaid-related issues.• Build and strengthen relationships with members of Congress, federal officials, internal and external stakeholders, professional associations, and coalitions to achieve AARP’s public policy agenda.• Leverage Association relationships and directly lobby Congress and the Executive Branch and negotiate on behalf of AARP regarding the content of legislation and regulations.• Analyze federal and state legislative and regulatory proposals, and communicate regularly with Congressional and Administration Members and staff regarding AARP’s policy goals.
