A life in the science field is much more than humble triumphs in the lab. I was grateful enough to work in a laboratory at Lehman College that constantly challenged my organization skills as well as leadership role in order to maintain structure and progress in our scientific curiosities. Past experiences in operations played a major role in my strong desire to help navigate my team and coordinate trial and errors necessary to better understand our intentions of synthesizing tripeptides.I enjoyed the process of learning the ins and outs of laboratory life and found a particular fascination with data collection and analysis. The ability to recognize and translate the narrative of developing research is an asset that I want to continuously develop and provide. During my time at Lehman College I used high-performance liquid chromatography, atomic force microscopy and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and created a database of successful tripeptides. I really enjoyed my time learning how to use these machines and what exactly the data meant for our hypothesis.I look forward to continuing my science experience in a lab geared towards immunology and virology. My community has been drastically affected by HIV and I wish to be a part of the constant growing legacy of research that strives to find solutions and comfort to those affected.
