Mission Point Lighthouse Manager
CurrentThis position requires me to be the face of the lighthouse and the first contact for all lighthouse issues. I manage all aspects of the gift shop and retail financial business from ordering merchandise to reporting sales; manage, train on the Square POS retail system (more than 60 volunteers annually) and schedule the volunteer keeper program for the open 7-month season (more than 400 individuals in files); manage, develop and produce museum displays, manage artifacts and historic structure; implement fundraising efforts and grants; utilize various media and advertising to promote the lighthouse and events; maintain website and develop social media; respond in a timely manner to visitors and volunteer requests; collaborate with other museums, businesses, non-profits and lighthouses on events, fundraising and sharing information; maintain the lighthouse property and building structures, order supplies for the keepers, gift shop and lighthouse maintenance, including developing all park and building signage, manage park and building repairs while following SHPO guidelines and historic concerns; be available for park, keeper and visitor emergencies; work with the Township Board for running the lighthouse and reporting gift shop finances and all lighthouse matters. I also work with tour groups, corporate groups and schools. I handle all advertising and digital media for the lighthouse museum and gift shop. Sales in the gift shop and visitor satisfaction reviews have increased each year since I started this position.
